Taking care of yourself

No one’s hardships are anymore difficult than the next person’s. It’s just that some people build their lives around their hardships, while others build their lives in spite of their hardships.

But whatever your hardship, you should add something positive to your life that you love to do to keep your sanity. And it should be something that you don’t rely on others for.

My positive thing is running. No kidding. I love to run, preferably outside and for a long distance. I sort out so much in that time with myself. I don’t always run alone and it’s fun to run with other people too. But during those solo runs, I work it all out.  Whatever the challenge…world peace, balancing a budget. It can all be worked out during a solo run.

But, seriously, the point I am trying to make is that we all need an outlet. And preferably a physical outlet, to relieve our stress and to let the endorphins flow. So don’t deprive yourself of an opportunity to take care of yourself. Get out and run or walk or dance. Well, maybe if you dance you should stay in, but you know what I mean.

Take care of yourself, and build your life. All that other stuff…well, it will still be there. And you will  be able to handle it better when you’re taking care of yourself.
