The State of Your Fitness

What is the state of your fitness? Thought that might be a fitting opening since the State of the Union address is tonight. Most of us can’t do a lot to affect what goes on in Washington, but we can do a lot to affect what goes on in our own corner of the world.

In times like these, there are moments when we feel out of  control of what is going on, but there are some things we can control. Our personal fitness is one of those things. Let’s try to control our own fitness levels in an attempt to prevent heart disease, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s and hypertension.

Take a moment to evaluate the state of your fitness. How is your diet? Are you eating whole foods and avoiding processed foods? Do you eat every color every day? Green, yellow, red, purple, blue, orange… And I am not referring to m&ms or skittles.

Are you exercising daily? Are you doing something to increase your heart rate or adding loads to muscles or working on your flexibility everyday? Even if it is only for ten minutes, it is worth doing.

Control what you can. Keep yourself fit.
