Running a race for time, is a test of strength, speed and endurance. Your results are a measure of how strong your legs are, how fast you can turn them over and how long you can run while it hurts.
Your lungs are burning, you can hear that you are panting, your legs are stinging, your feet pounding. How long can you maintain this rhythm? How far can you endure the pain? How long can you stick out the mental presence and stay in the zone?
And as you approach the finish, you can see the time clock and now you cannot even feel your legs, your arms are moving on their own and you can feel yourself smile as it registers in your mind.
You are elated, your legs stop moving, and you take it in. The weeks, the months of training, all coming together. And you let out a smooth exhale as you exclaim a hearty “I did it!”
