Can You Juggle?

How do you juggle your family, work, school, pleasure, workouts and having to care for an elderly family member? Wow. You think your schedule couldn’t be any more demanding. As it is now, you barely have time to do anything for yourself. Just when you think what else could happen…it does. Having to fit elder care into a family’s already overloaded schedule is a new challenge.

So, we come down to this….How badly do you want it? That is how it plays out. The things you want badly enough, you do. The other things don’t get done. And each day if may play out differently. And it should because each day may have different priorities and you have to adapt your life to accommodate the most important priority.

Easy to type this, but hard choices when you are stuck in middle of it. Well, that leads to the next statement. Make sure you pull yourself outside periodically so you don’t get so enmeshed that you forget where your own life’s boundaries are.

I insist that you can fit it all in if you manage your time efficiently. I know some of you don’t believe me, but it goes back to what I said about how badly you want it. If you want to fit in that workout for yourself, you will. What about sleep? I know that’s what you’re thinking. We all have different sleep requirements and I cringe every time people are shoving sleep down my throat. If I slept 1 extra hour a day, I would lose an entire day from my life in 24 days.

Here’s the plan. Fit in 30 minutes a day or whatever you need for your personal fitness. Get up early, stay up late, eat fast at lunch, skip gossip time, take your kids with you, workout while your kids are at soccer, whatever you need to do, but don’t neglect yourself. Juggle. Some things may hang in the air for a moment or two, but you will get to them before they hit the ground!
